I am an assistant professor of journalism at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. I did my undergrad at University of New Hampshire and my grad at Boston University. Previously I worked as an online managing editor for the television documentary program, Frontline, on PBS; an online news producer for the Boston Herald newspaper; and managing editor for the websites of the alternative newspaper, the Boston Phoenix. I teach advanced reporting/research classes and an online journalism class. On top of this, my husband and I are busy with our rambunctious 4-year-old daughter, Zoe. We live in the Boston area.
The Keeping Score blog is about the sports media coverage of women's sports. I am focusing my research and writing in this area, particulary the coverage of professional women's sports, and I hope to use the blog as outlet. I'm also trying to answer the question - what role does the sports media play in the success or failure of women's professional sports, if any?I've grown increasingly interested in how women's sports fans are seeking alternative sources online for the coverage they feel they aren't getting in the mainstream sports media.
