Van de Velde, British Open and other discord

PGA golfer Jean Van de Velde is raising a lot of ire in the sports press for his comments about women playing in the British Open. As he said to the Associated Press:

"My whole point is, where do we draw the line? If we accept that women can enter our tournaments, then it applies that men can play with women."

"Van de Velde is just a bully" in the San Jose Mercury News

"No, Jean, it doesn't go both ways" - St. Petersburg Times

And Sally Jenkins of the Washington Post comes down hard on him, Celtics Paul Pierce (for homophobia), and Air Force football coach Fisher DeBerry (for racism) in "Their Words Of Discouragement"
