An interesting profile in New York Times sports today on a 51-year-old Swedish woman who went from a life as a marketing executive to a life as a competing amateur body builder.
The front page of the sports section of the Boston Globe had this piece today- "Powerlifting has given these women a boost" - a profile of a few Massachusetts women who compete in Strongman/Strongwoman Championships. They train at a local gym and the article gives a good feel for what goes into the training. Originally, a few of the women profiled were living unhealthy lives and started lifting as a way to lose weight, but discovered they loved it and made heavy lifting part of their life.
